I'm jealous of the friends you've met on your trip. Traveling with someone else, both of us being introverts, and jumping from place to place so fast has made it nearly impossible to really get to know anyone at all. Definitely no close connections. At the same time, I have my sister to travel with, who I will have as a major focal point in my life still after this trip (even if we do drive each other crazy)
I didn't know the protests had gotten that bad..didn't follow the news on it since we left. Kinda wish I'd gone to see them when we were there though.
I totally get a place seeming different upon return.
And while I could take just a little bit of K.S. road, it really got to me..as did other super touristy backpacker spots disconnected from everything else...why be in another country then is how I mostly feel about it. Though at the same time I get needing comraderie wit others you can speak the same language as and connect with..esp when traveling alone.
