I like how a simple day of going to the movies end up being an all day adventure across a few different towns and to many different places. I even ended the day by bringing home two new friends.

I had been wanting to see Crazy, Stupid, Love since seeing the preview a few weeks ago, so that was my plan for the day. I'm normally one of those people that goes to the movies alone. It is how I prefer it, but this time I asked my sister in passing if she would like to go. After saying there was a few things she and her boyfriend had to do today, I figured I would just wake up and go alone. Well, as I was getting ready in the morning she wakes up and says she thought we were all going together. Not that long story cut even shorter, I ended up tagging along with the two of them all day.

The first stop after coffee was her boyfriend's parent's house. That was actually pretty awkward. I rather like her boyfriend, but his friends also live at that house with him, and they aren't the easiest people in the world to relate to. His best friend who I've met before, is nice enough and so is her current girlfriend she is just so....emotional, and dramatic at times. She seems to feel things much more strongly than most people do, which isn't a bad thing, just I don't always know how to react to her. I guess that is to be expected though. Getting an actual reaction out of me on almost anything is pretty difficult. My sister seemed slightly ill-at-ease there too, though she would never say it.

I found myself in the Army recruitment office at that. At one point in my life, that is a sight I thought I would have seen much sooner. In high school, I had seriously thought about going into the military -- Army or Air Force, but when the time came I didn't. Sitting there listening to my sister's boyfriend talk to the recruiter was like being reminded of a different life -- a different road I could have taken. I wonder who that person would be, if I had gone into the military, because they certainly wouldn't be much like who I am right now.

One pet store, and then the movie followed, and it was very good.

Mmmmmm Ryan Gosling.

Anyway, it was also pretty funny. There was a part where Emma Stone's character starts drinking and takes a glass from the table and asks if it is gin. The three of us just looked at each other and shared a laugh. When my mom gave me all that gin, the two of them were who drank the majority of it with me. We hate gin.

Stopping by work to look for sunglasses for my sister was completely awkward, but I didn't know at the time. Lee was fired, so it explains the rather distant air my boss had when I walked in. Doc was happy to see him though, and that is always nice to see. Let's just say I'm glad to know I have tomorrow off too.

We went to another pet store after the movie. At the first one I had been playing with the birds they had there, rather than the dogs or cats and toyed with the thought of getting a small one to keep in my room. Going to the second one, I actually bought two after seeing two of them together. I didn't want to buy one, only to leave the other one there all alone, so now I'm the owner of two little parakeets, one blue and one grey. The two little guys are still pretty rattled by the trip home, but they are adorable. I don't know what to name them yet, but I wonder how long it'll take them to start making gun shot noises from listening to me play video games.
