You guys are seriously awesome. Thanks for all the ideas for writing so far. What I'm going to do is do a post on each one every day or two.

So, firstly [livejournal.com profile] crazycatladie asked about my favorite video game and why.

Now, that is actually hard. I play so many games. My steam library alone I think have 140 games, and that isn't counting non-Steam games I own or any of my PS3/PS2 games. I play a lot, and play almost every genre from FPS, RPG, MOBA, RTS, etc. There really isn't a type I won't at least try (except you, Duke Nukem), so it is hard to pick just one.

There is one game though, well, two but I'll explain, that are above any other. Those two are Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3. Why both? Well, Uncharted 2 was an amazing game. It blew me, and many other people away. I bought a PS3 entirely for Uncharted 2 and never once regretted that decision. By most accounts, Uncharted 3 was better game, but when you produce such an amazing game people go into the next one expecting the same feeling but in order to that you have to go above and beyond what you already did. Well, when you're getting 10/10 everywhere it is hard to meet let alone top that. I'd definitely say they met it with Uncharted 3. There are very few ways they could have topped it, so both sit there at the top of my favorite games. Uncharted 1 was good, Uncharted 2 and 3 were beyond awesome.

For those unfamiliar with Uncharted, here is the trailer for Uncharted 2.

The Uncharted games are action games, in the highest degree. My mom actually liked to sit there and watch me play it because it does play like an action movie. She hates action movies and she stilled liked watching me play. If you watch that trailer, that tank chasing Nate? Yeah, that's not a cut scene. That's the game. From the start, the game just pulls you along. It'll slow down for a minute or so and you're back into the action. For someone like me who get bored rather easily, I enjoyed that part of Uncharted.

You play as Nathan Drake in each game, who is a treasure hunter and one of my favorite video game characters ever. Firstly, he is hilarious. Unlike many other video game characters, he has a personality and uses his wit/charm/humor to get out of situations. He is also a very normal, relatable character. He is human, and he has flaws and is not invincible. In many video games, you get characters that are larger than life itself. They are completely badass, but are only there to wield the really big gun and save the world. Nate isn't that at all. He get beats up, runs out of bullets (okay, that's my doing), and gets left on trains falling off cliffs to die by the bad guys. He is also voiced by one of my favorite voice actors, Nolan North. I have such a soft spot for roguish characters.

The other characters are also amazing, but Nate does steal the show. And, Claudia Black is the voice of Chloe. I adore her. Uncharted probably has some of the best voice acting of any game, which is one of the reasons the characters are all as great as they are. When Uncharted 3 came out, it actually felt like seeing old friends again when I started playing it. Elena has some of the best lines too, one of which is in that trailer.

"I'm Elena Fisher, last year's model."

She is awesome. The music isn't bad either.

Other than the characters what makes the game so awesome is the action. There are very, very few games that do the action as well as Uncharted. One of my favorite video game moments ever was being chased through a Tibetan town BY A TANK. Here I am, one dude, being chased by a huge tank. There is such urgency

Finally, the games are gorgeous. There are so many locations throughout the games, and each looks absolutely amazing. From Nepal, to the ancient lost cities, to Yemen, the scenery is amazing. Talking about that won't do it justice, go check it out.

Oh, actual final thought on Uncharted, the multiplayer is awesome. I'm big into multiplayer and have spent a lot of time playing it. It is a lot like other multiplayer shooters, where you shoot players on the other team. There isn't anything new or different about that aspect, but it is still a lot of fun. You can keep all your fancy guns, Call of Duty, I want my super pretty Uncharted maps.

I don't see another game dethroning Uncharted at the top of my games list for a long, long time. There is only one that even has a chance, and that's Journey. If it does, I know I'll end up posting about them when I finally get around to playing it.
