kaia: (Behind)
After headaches of trying to purchase my plane tickets, it is finally done. Procrastination at it's finest.

Good news is that I got the tickets for cheaper than I thought and I'm not arriving in Bangkok at midnight. The bad news is I had to go through Expedia. I haven't ever used them, so I guess I shouldn't say that is bad. I would've felt better going directly through the airline though. From multiple calls to my bank and trying to use a credit card, it just wasn't worth the hassle of finding a card that worked. Even after the bank approved charges from Turkey, it still wouldn't work. So, Expedia worked and saved me about $150. As long as I don't need to change anything, it should be fine.

The finalized plans are that I leave for Bangkok on December 4th, and I get back to the USA on April 21st. I was just going to have a day layover in Istanbul before returning home, but I'm going to spend Thursday-Monday there now.  I realized just how excited I was for that layover, so why not? Original plan was possibly having a week in London. I actually prefer it this way. I mean, Istanbul! It seems like such a waste to only have a day to experience the city, now I'll have the weekend.

I'm actually doing this. You would think it would've hit me by now. Four months on the road, part of me still wonders if I can do it.

It would be a waste to be in Istanbul and not have a chance to enjoy it. Have fun! And go to the Grand Bazaar for me if you can. ;)

I'm looking at using Expedia or something similar for my trip as well--they seem to have pretty good deals and it's easier to go through an American company than not.

Oh, totally. I think a stop in Istanbul is just what I'm going to need at the end of my trip.

That's what one of my coworkers said too, and I hadn't thought about it that way. If something does go wrong, I can always get a hold of Expedia, but getting a hold of the airline while I'm in Asia won't be easy since they're based in Turkey.

I haven't decided yet! I know I'll definitely be there for a few days after I land, but I'm just going to take my time and leave when I'm ready. I definitely have been thinking about either Christmas or New Year's there though, so I might be there then!

I always use Expedia. And even if I don't end up purchasing from them, they're my first go to and then I look elsewhere for cheaper. But they're normally pretty good! :)

You are going to have such a wonderful time!!

Yeah, they were the cheapest I could find. It means more money to spend while there! :D

Thanks! I'm so excited!

I don't know that I've ever said this but I'm soooo jealous that you're going on this trip. I'm dying to get out of the country again. I hate that I have zero dollars to go toward a trip, even a short one, and I hate that I have so few options of people to travel with. Can't wait to 'hear' all your stories and see whatever photos you end up getting.

Aww, well hopefully you'll be able to take another trip out of the country down the road! I tried getting the timing to work out with people so I wouldn't be alone, but it ended up being such a hassle I decided to just go on my own. That may end up being an awful decision, but it'll be interesting to find out.

Hopefully I'll have some awesome stories and photos to share!

Let's travel the world together! Two Kaseys can't go wrong! ;)

Hooray for the tickets being bought and done and it was cheaper than you anticipated. :) Definitely good. Saving money is good and Expedia is a solid enough company that if you ran into issues, you could call them to sort it out.

Yeah, I'm rather glad it ended up working out how it has. I was so opposed to using them, but it is nice to know that if problems do occur I'll be able to get a hold of them whenever I need to.
