After headaches of trying to purchase my plane tickets, it is finally done. Procrastination at it's finest.
Good news is that I got the tickets for cheaper than I thought and I'm not arriving in Bangkok at midnight. The bad news is I had to go through Expedia. I haven't ever used them, so I guess I shouldn't say that is bad. I would've felt better going directly through the airline though. From multiple calls to my bank and trying to use a credit card, it just wasn't worth the hassle of finding a card that worked. Even after the bank approved charges from Turkey, it still wouldn't work. So, Expedia worked and saved me about $150. As long as I don't need to change anything, it should be fine.
The finalized plans are that I leave for Bangkok on December 4th, and I get back to the USA on April 21st. I was just going to have a day layover in Istanbul before returning home, but I'm going to spend Thursday-Monday there now. I realized just how excited I was for that layover, so why not? Original plan was possibly having a week in London. I actually prefer it this way. I mean, Istanbul! It seems like such a waste to only have a day to experience the city, now I'll have the weekend.
I'm actually doing this. You would think it would've hit me by now. Four months on the road, part of me still wonders if I can do it.

Date: 2013-11-10 07:07 am (UTC)From:That's what one of my coworkers said too, and I hadn't thought about it that way. If something does go wrong, I can always get a hold of Expedia, but getting a hold of the airline while I'm in Asia won't be easy since they're based in Turkey.
