I had orientation yesterday morning, and yes, I did go in rather hungover. BUT they were serving free coffee, so that wasn't bad. And donuts, eww.

As I was standing there in line I actually saw a few familiar faces. A guy from my Physics class a few semesters ago, a girl from high school, and Nick, a guy in my Psych class from last semester. The only one I really had even talked to before was the girl from high school, but that was....9? years ago now. Wow, it has been 9 years since I was a freshman.

I wasn't all that coherent right in that moment and not crawling into a little ball on the floor to sleep was where all my focus was going, but Nick came right up to me. "I know you! You're the girl that was reading Dune!" That's me. And so started our orientation adventure.

As luck would have it, we were in the same group so we got to spend the whole day together, making jokes, laughing too loud in the downtime between presentations, and just overall enjoying the day. This mother sitting next to us didn't like our shennigans and kept shooting us dirty looks, as if laughter is somehow evil, but never were we disruptive or disrespectful. Some people don't like jokes, I guess.

I won't go into the super boring details, but Financial Aid is pretty much sorted out. They didn't factor in my scholarship until then and I was still able to keep my grant, so that's $9000 this year that I don't have to ever pay back. Just waiting on a credit check and a few more forms to go through, and it is all a go.

We didn't get a lot of bathroom breaks though. How can you give free coffee and not many bathroom breaks?! When we finally did, there was this huge line because there was ONE toilet for men and one for women. As I'm standing there, the last guy comes out and says, "There is a toilet, a urinal, and a lock. So, if you don't want to wait." And they all stared at him as if he was speaking another language. I know, girls, the men's bathroom is SUPER SCARY and should be avoided at all costs. Who KNOWS what they do in there! They gave me odd looks as I walked out too.

I kind of feel like I'm missing out on a lot by not living on campus though. But I'm not paying another $9000 a year, when my house is 10 minutes away. I find myself wanting to actually involve myself there though. They takes trips to Bolivia every year. Depending on cost, I'm going.
