Chrissie, a friend of mine from high school, came into the store today. It is always a pleasant surprise to have once-friends walk into the store, especially after a day such as today, it was most welcome. Her and I met in a great way. It was my first day of high school and they were herding us into the auditorium for a welcome speech. I was pushing past people to catch up to my friend Alex, which just symbolizes our relationship so perfectly -- me constantly looking at his back, desperately trying to reach him, but alas, that is a topic for another time. Needless to say, I failed in reaching Alex and ended up sitting next to two strangers. One of those people was Chrissie, and the other was a guy who I ended up sitting next to in Spanish, go figure. I was terrified, being the freshman I was, especially coming from a private school with 75 kids total, in Preschool through 8th grade, to a high school with 1,000+ kids just in the freshman class. I asked Chrissie what lunch period she was in because that is what I was most afraid of, not having anywhere to eat lunch or anyone to eat lunch with. What a time, when my biggest worry was so minuscule. She just so happened to be in the same lunch period, so we agreed to meet for lunch that day, which translated into us having lunch together all four years of high school. It was wonderful seeing her again, especially after having Andy and crazy customers to deal with my entire shift. She asked me to get coffee sometime and I find myself looking forward to that.

But speaking of crazy customers, how can you walk into a store late in the evening and demand an eye exam? Not ask, DEMAND. The doctor was with his last patient and was getting ready to leave and this lady just has a complete bitch fit. And Doc, being so much nicer than myself, says he'll stay a little longer and do the exam. She then has the nerve to accuse me of telling her false information while talking to my boss. "Oh, I think it was her." Yeah, I wasn't even here until an hour after someone supposedly told her anything, so try again.

Running into old friends from high school or previous years always gives such an interest feeling when it happens. Especially if its people that you've never had a problem with. I hope the coffee date turns out well.

And damn that lady was crazy. I hate people like that. Self-centered, spoiled pricks. I use to work in an environment like that. Wish I could tell people off instead of being polite and professional.

Oh yes. She is one of those people that I had regretted falling out of contact with, so it was so nice to see her again.

I was so tempted to. Thankfully, the doctor knew how annoyed I was getting and just grabbed her. He is so much better at dealing with problem people than I am.

Chrissy sounds like a great person. I wouldn't be excited to bump into many people from highschool but people like her would definitely be exceptions to the rule. I'm sure you'll have a great time. :)

It was nice of doc to tolerate that woman. As long as it doesn't lead to him being taken advantage of, I suppose.

She is. :D I'm the same way with people from high school. There are so few that I would actually be happy to see, but she is one those few that whose company I greatly enjoy.

That is one of the things about him. He is one of the most approachable doctors, and people, that I've ever met, but he knows where to draw the line between being nice and letting someone walk completely over him. Most of it I think was him not wanting her to continue her bitch fit at me, since I was starting to lose my patience very quickly. It is somewhat amusing to see how much different customers treat the doctors there as opposed to the sales associates.
