"The saddest man is one that has attained his dream."

This was something that my Psychology professor said this morning. I'm sure it is a quote from someone, but I'm much to lazy to look up who exactly. It is a shame that that class is so short, because of the discussion we could have had on that one statement had we had more time. It makes me miss my Philosophy class from a lifetime ago. The topics that came up in those classes were endlessly thought-provoking.

This is not anywhere near as thought provoking as anything in my Philosophy classes, but it still grabbed my attention and something that I do believe to be true. It is wonderful to have goals and to achieve those goals, but what happens if you run out of goals to pursue? What happens when you get everything you've ever wanted? It doesn't happen for most, but where would a person be left then? If there was no other dream to strive for, what is life then? This is where my mind goes when I'm bored and it is presented with a topic to muse over. I just ask more questions and attempt to find answers to all of those. It keeps me busy.

I'm in such a weird mood today. Going from the chaos of yesterday to the almost boring calm of today is odd.

I always wonder how people feel after winning a gold medal or being president or something because where do you go from there? You work hard to accomplish something and then it's just over. I think there's a lot of truth in that statement. I guess if I ever make my wildest dreams come true, I'll just have to keep striving for more!

I can't even imagine where one would go after such things. Both of those you spend your entire life working towards, what is left once they're achieved? Life would be depressing if we never reached some dreams or goals we set, but there is a sort of beauty in having one that is unattainable.

Ah, those weird moods where you are constantly thinking about things can be great or they can be frustrating. Everyone has those days though. Hope you can somehow relax on this calm day :)
I also found this quote to be thought provoking. I do feel like I have many many goals, some of which are unattainable and some that are more... realistic. I hope I never stop dreaming or creating goals. I think that's when things start to get redundant or boring in life.

Thanks. :) The calm days are rare, so I should be enjoying the calm before it disappears.

I feel the same way -- I hope that I always have some type of goal to strive for, regardless of how impossible it may seem. Sometimes, perhaps just making the attempt and dreaming of such things is enough.

I totally agree. As long as you have something to live for I think that is more than enough :)

Well I don't know who said it but I'm quite impressed that Google has picked it up from your journal already.

Ha, I'm impressed as well. Google wastes no time it would seem. ;D

interesting question. I don't know what would happen if one achieved all the goals they set out to. i'll probably never know either, as most of my goals I've never been able to achieve.
Take care,
dawnielle

I probably will never know either. It might help if I made some actual concrete goals though. ;D
